Avery Brewing Co. is a Boulder, Colorado based, family-owned craft brewery established in 1993. Avery produced ~55k bbls of beer in 2018 with a crew of 160 employees throughout the Restaurant, Production, Sales, & Admin areas.
MARKETING DIRECTOR
Purpose of Position: Avery’s Keeper of the Brand will create, direct and oversee all Avery Sales programming and Marketing initiatives and communication. Lead and energize the efforts of Avery Brewing Co.’s marketing team in a manner consistent with our established brand. Drive brand development while flexing with the demands of rapid growth.
Reports to: National Sales Director
Responsibilities:
Leads the development and execution of Avery’s Vision, Brand Positioning, Voice, understanding of consumer view, and build upon those impressions
Develops Avery strategy, executes, manages and evaluates Communications for Sales and Marketing Programming to include Content Creation and Programming across all media forms
Works with National Sales Director to develop Sales Program and Supporting Materials. Elements to include: Sales and Marketing Programs, Activations, Point of Sale, and other Promotional Materials and Communications
Leads in strategy and execution for Avery Consumer development Increasing consumption and loyalty by attracting new consumers into Avery portfolio and building from existing core
Lead for all Avery Media, PR and External Relations. Will manage any outside agencies for Marketing, PR, ad Digital Media. Manage community involvement, press release timing, publishing, copywriting, and provide support for social media initiatives.
Lead for all Sales & Marketing Content Creation and Copywriting. Oversee the writing of all creative briefs and management of the creative process from concept through execution.
Prioritizes projects in line with business goals
Analyzes and reports the effectiveness of Sales Programming and marketing initiatives to management weekly
Creates and maintains strong long-term relationships with our distributors, our retail partners (both on and off premise), and with the consumer.
Maximizes the use of POS materials by having a thorough understanding of their placement and relevance.
Operates within a budget to achieve goals
Follows through on all commitments to our fans and customers
Directly supervises and directs a marketing team of 5
Expectations – The ideal candidate will possess the following abilities and more:
A solid understanding of the three-tier system and each player’s role in the big picture of sales & marketing
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, various social media, VIP/SAP and other creative and business-oriented software
Ongoing education and personal development including keeping up with market trends
Excellent communication skills and independent problem solving skills
A thorough understanding of the craft beer scene
Certified Cicerone® or similar training preferred. The ability to educate people from all levels of knowledge on the merits of craft brewing and specifically Avery Brewing is a must.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in Marketing and Brand Management
Bachelors in Communications, Marketing, or related field
Able to demonstrate strong retail and wholesale oriented math skills, understanding of gross profit, gross margin, pricing strategies, and discounting structures will be necessary.
Valid driver’s license, registered and insured vehicle, and ability to drive to and from accounts and events
Physically capable of a variety of duties including but not limited to repeated lifting of 30 pounds or more, extended amounts of standing, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
Plan, manage time, and prioritize as necessary. Ability to manage multiple focuses in a timely fashion is required.
Be an ambassador of Avery Brewing Co. Represent the brewery with integrity and enthusiasm at all times.
Compensation: Is comprised of a base wage plus potential variable compensation, travel allowance, medical, dental, 401(k) match, paid holidays and paid vacation are all available with tenure.
